Postmortem

What went right?

The aesthetics turned out great. The sprites, animations and transitions flowed and work well with each other. The core mechanics we discussed were added and working. The next thing to do would be to expand on it. All the points our team spoke about during the concept phase were implemented and there is room for improvement.

What went wrong?

Time Management:

  • Started to work before planning our game fully. So, we had to take a step back from developing and back to planning making us behind schedule

Organization:

  • If other members were trying to help code, the scripts were confusing for those who didn’t code it. Making it difficult to collaborate on the scripts.

Technical:

  • Enemies would not work: bullets stopped moving, enemies would disappear
  • Puzzles were a challenge to code, thus them not working properly

What are our next steps?

For the future, we want to have:

  • Better cooperation between players
  • More abilities for characters
  • More refined/cohesive code scripts
  • Improved visual/audio effects
  • Add more assets for the environment
  • More well rounded storyline
